Twenty-Two Years of Diving Heritage
Manado Scuba was founded in 2003 by Katiman Herlambang. Katiman served as General Manager of NDC Resort (1989–2003), and his father was Loky Herlambang.
Loky Herlambang and his partner Ricky Lasut were among the earliest pioneers to develop dive sites in the area. In 1976, they co-founded NDC (Nusantara Diving Center) — Manado's first dive center — putting Bunaken on the world map.
His exploration and promotion directly led the local government to designate Bunaken as a marine protected area in 1980, and ultimately to the establishment of the National Marine Park in 1991.
In honor of Loky Herlambang's contributions to Manado, a statue of him stands within NDC Resort. After many years, history has come full circle: in 2024, Manado Scuba returned to NDC and continues operating there today, bringing that legendary era to a perfect close.
