Taking the PADI Open Water Course in Manado

The PADI Open Water Diver certification is the world's most widely recognised entry-level scuba qualification. At Manado Scuba, the course runs over 3 to 4 days and takes you from your very first breath underwater through to 4 open-water dives — leaving you certified to dive independently to 18 metres anywhere in the world.

Whether you are a complete beginner or someone who tried diving on holiday and wants to go further, the Open Water course is your gateway to the underwater world.

Course structure

The course is broken into clear, manageable stages:

  • Day 1 — Theory sessions covering dive physics, equipment, and safety, followed by confined water (pool or sheltered shallows) skill practice
  • Day 2 — First two open-water dives in shallow conditions, putting theory into practice on a real reef
  • Day 3 — Final two open-water dives at greater depth, consolidating skills in more realistic dive conditions
  • Day 4 — Written exam and certification processing; your PADI card is issued upon passing

Multilingual instructors

Manado Scuba offers instruction in Mandarin Chinese, English, and Bahasa Indonesia, ensuring that language is never a barrier to learning. PADI course materials are available in multiple languages, so you can study theory in your most comfortable language while building confidence in the water.
